Hôpital Saint-Antoine – Bâtiment Kourilsky
34 rue Crozatier – 75571 PARIS cedex 12
The platform includes two Specific Pathogenic Organism Free (SPF) status zones: a breeding zone and an experimental zone.
The breeding area is used to house, breed and care for transgenic mouse lines. The entry of new lines is limited to animals with the same health status as that of this animal house, after a decontamination process by embryo transfer and keeping them under isolation. Its access is exclusively reserved for the platform's staff.
The experimental area is dedicated to the hosting and experimentation of mice and rats used in research projects. It consists of two mouse housing rooms and one rat housing room as well as several experimental laboratories.
This part of the animal house includes:
- two surgical rooms equipped with gas anaesthesia equipment, a stereotaxy machine and binocular magnifiers;
- a behaviour part equipped with a video tracking system;
- a metabolic part equipped with metabolic cages, an inverted cycle cabinet or an actimetry system;
All of these equipments are made available to the users of the platform.
The platform was approved in April 2012 by the Departmental Directorate of Population Protection, accreditation number: B 75-12-01. It is classified by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, Group 1, Class 1, Containment A1.
The PHEA includes several spaces allowing:- the housing and care of many mouse and rat lines;
- the production and breeding of custom experimental cohorts;
- technical assistance for carrying out experimental procedures
- the realization of customised protocols
The platform includes two EOPS status zones: a breeding zone and an experimental zone. In these two areas, the 6-person technical team ensures health monitoring, animal care and welfare and the application of procedures governing animal experimentation.
The platform is part of the Small Animal Phenotyping Network (RPPA), which is IBISA certified.
In order to meet the new European standards for animal experimentation, the CoR Saint-Antoine animal house has an animal welfare unit and is attached to the Charles Darwin Ethics Committee for Animal Experimentation (CEEA N°05).
